چکیده

Extrusion freeform fabrication has been used to make bars of fiber-reinforced epoxidized soybean oil (ESO)/epoxy resin. Freeform fabrication methods build materials by the repetitive addition of thin layers. The mixture of epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) and epoxy resin are modified with a gelling agent to solidify the materials until curing occurs. The high strength and stiffness composites are formed through fiber reinforcement. Glass, carbon and mineral fibers are used in the formulations. It is shown that the fiber orientation follows the direction of motion of the write head that deposits the resins and has a large influence on the properties of the composite. In addition, the effects of curing agents, curing temperature, epoxy/ESO ratio, and fiber loading on mechanical properties of composites are studied and reported. 2006 Elsevier Ltd. Development of Soybean Oil-Based Composites by Solid Freeform Fabrication Method: Epoxidized Soybean Oil with Bis Or Polyalkyleneamine Curing Agents System

Soybean oil-based composites are prepared by the solid freeforming fabrication (SFF) method. Epoxidized soybean oil is solidified with a gelling agent, and composites are formed by fiber reinforcement. Glass, carbon, and mineral fibers are used in the formulations. The type of fiber and degree of fiber alignments affect the properties of the composites. In addition, the effects of curing agents...

Transesterification of epoxidized soybean oil to prepare epoxy methyl esters

Epoxidizedmethyl esters were prepared by the transesterification of epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO). The transesterification was complete in 10min at 50 ◦C without loss of the epoxide function. Epoxidized methyl esters represent a renewable substrate that is readily converted into surfactants, fuel additives, and other industrial products. The implementation of this reaction will increase the ava...

Preparation and Characterization of a Novel Biodegradable Epoxy Resin Modified with Epoxidized Oleic Acid

The goal of this research was to study the curing behavior and biodegradability DER 736 modified with epoxidized oleic acid. In this paper we demonstrate the efficient epoxidation of oleic acid with performic acid generated in situ from formic acid and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of H2SO4 as catalyst. The highest relative epoxy yield of 61% was achieved at 40 ͦC after 10 h. DER 736 modifie...

Preparation, characterization and mechanical properties of epoxidized soybean oil/clay nanocomposites

New epoxidized soybean oil (ESO)/clay nanocomposites have been prepared with triethylenetetramine (TETA) as a curing agent. The dispersion of the clay layers is investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). XRD and TEM data reveal the intercalated structure of ESO/clay nanocomposites has been developed. The thermogravimetric analysis exhibits that the ESO/c...

One-Pot Conversion of Epoxidized Soybean Oil (ESO) into Soy-Based Polyurethanes by MoCl₂O₂ Catalysis.

An innovative and eco-friendly one-pot synthesis of bio-based polyurethanes is proposed via the epoxy-ring opening of epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) with methanol, followed by the reaction of methoxy bio-polyols intermediates with 2,6-tolyl-diisocyanate (TDI). Both synthetic steps, methanolysis and polyurethane linkage formation, are promoted by a unique catalyst, molybdenum(VI) dichloride dioxid...
